The Carp are feeding hard and heavy before the Winter.  Two regulars braved the weather today and were rewarded with two cracking Carp.  Paddy's fell to sweetcorn, while Al's was caught on maggots.

The fly lake was stocked last Friday with 300 triploid rainbow trout up to 4lb.  It was hard fishing for the first 2 days but most anglers are catching up to 25 trout per session.  The trout seem to be taking all sorts, but Bibio Snatchers and Cats whiskers are producing best catches at the moment.Facebook

Fishery report 1st July

Jack Byrne with his first fish..  ... on his first trip fishing!

Congratulations to Jack who was fishing for the first time with his Dad and his sister Holly at Corkagh Park this afternoon.  He caught his Perch on a float-fished single maggot.

There are many fish at the suface today, the warmth and the sun bringing them up in the water.  Most success will be had by fishing the bait near the surface rather than deeper.  Padje caught his first carp, a fish of 8lb on Thursday, and  also had a Rudd of 1.5 lbs and a 2lb Hybrid in the same session.

The trout are still being caught on small F-flies, in the surface layer, although the bright sun and flat calm conditions today were not the best for fishing, there were still lots of fish being caught.

Fishery report 24th June

There have been a total of four specimen sized hybrids caught in the coarse lake in a week.  Two of which unfortunately were returned without being weighed on a certified scales.  All four were 4lb+, 3 caught by Liam Brocklebank and one by Tomas.  There are still plenty of carp being caught on dog biscuits and flies...
The trout in the trout lake are still being a little difficult, but can be caught on emergers and small dries.  They are a little pre-occupied with small flies and corixa beetles.

Fishery Report June 21st

Aaron, with a nice hybrid caught on Sunday morning.
The coarse lake is continuing to produce good fishing.  Many large hybrids are being caught and the carp are moving to surface baits.  All coarse fish that qualify as Irish specimens can be weighed on the fishery's certified scales.  Management will remove scale samples where needed and witness the fish prior to a claim.  All qualifying specimen's claimed from the Irish specimen fish committee caught at Corkagh Park will also earn you a voucher for two free day tickets for the fishery.
Specimens likely to be caught are: Roach/bream (3.53lbs) or rudd/bream hybrids (2.64lbs+) Carp (12lb+) and there is a possibility of specimen bream (7.5lbs) and tench (6lbs).

The trout are proving a little awkward, feeding just subsurface and ignoring many offerings, but persistence will pay off.  Successful flies are shiphams buzzers, small bibios and f-flies.
The trout lake has had weed cutting done today, so it should be settled down again by tomorrow.

Fishery report 15th June

Brocko with a specimen Bream Hybrid of 4lb 6 ozs caught this afternoon.  Brocko was using a maggot feeder rig with maggots as hookbait on a quivertip rod.  Even the bright sunlight hasn't stopped the coarse anglers from catching some nice fish, this is one of two very large hybrids caught by Brocko this afternoon.  The specimen weight for Hybrids is currently 3lbs.

On the trout lakes there were lots of fish moving at the surface but they were proving difficult to catch on dries, most success was with nymphs and emergers fished in the surface layers.

Fishery Report June 10th

The inclement weather conditions have meant a mixed week of fishing.  Anto Kelly, pictured nearest the camera, not to be outdone by Mick managed a 6 lb Carp on the fly later on Sunday.  Do we credit Mick with the lessons??  I am hoping to see a photo of Anto's fish soon.  Anto also has had quite a bit of success on the trout lake during the week.  Other catches listed in thew returns include Paul McBrien, who had 21 trout on tuesday, Greg Long had 12 on wednesday mainly to small size 16 dries, Dean Kehoe had 11 on thursday while Jimmy Finnegan hasd eight.  The fish are rising in the trout lake but are quite selective at the moment meaning some frustrating times until you find the flies they want.  However boobies pulled accross the top are still moving fish, though hook-ups are difficult as many are not taking the fly properly.
