Fishery report May 27th

The trout lake is still producing, Ray Harris had over 10 fish in an hour and a half on Wednesday even in the difficult fishing conditions.  The Gale force winds have kept many anglers away over the last week.  Conditions are set to improve slightly over the weekend.  Small dry flies are still proving successful, as are damsel nymphs, conditions have not allowed anglers to fish buzzers.

There is some movement of Carp around the margins, but wind conditions have made it almost impossible to fish since my last report.

Fishery report 23rd May

The trout lake has been producing big catches over the weekend.  Gianluca Paoleua had over 20 fish each day friday and Saturday.  Graham Prizeman Had over 20 on Friday, and according to the catch returns 16+ on Sunday.  It is hard to keep count when catching lots of fish.   Little fishing was done on the coarse lake due to the high winds.

Please could all anglers fill in their catch returns before leaving the fishery.  This can be done anonymously, but your returns help me to let you know what is happening on the lakes.

Fishery report May 17th

Anto Kelly with a nice fish caught on a small dry bibio hopper.  The trout are feeding quite freely at the surface this week.  Anto Kelly has been having success all this week with dry flies.  Again there has not been much angling done on the trout lake this week.  The lake is due to be stocked on Friday, so these fresh fish should be giving good sport over the weekend.  These new fish should get some of the resident big fish more aggressive and active so I am expecting some big fish catches next week.

On the coarse lake mixed nets of rudd, roach and perch are sometimes made more interesting by the occasional tench.   As usual the carp are proving difficult during the day.  Morning and evening are best, but the strong winds have made margin and surface fishing difficult.

fishery report 11th May

The fishing in the coarse lake is very good at the moment.  Al had four carp between 6 & 8 lb in one session yesterday.  Brock had a nice net of roach/rudd and hybrids today on a quivertip and feeder set-up. These included some nice roach and rudd as seen in the pictures.  Other anglers have also been successful both for the carp and for silver fish (rudd, roach etc.) and although the fish need to be treated as wild fish, care, quiet and fine tackle there are good results being obtained by many visitors.

Trout are to be seen moving at the surface again, but probably due to Mayfly hatches on the loughs and some rivers fishing has been quiet on the trout lake.  Again, although no large catch returns have been recorded this week, many anglers were catching a few fish with a persistent and careful approach.

Fishery Report 6th May

Sawyer Lewis from Clonsilla with a lovely Triploid Rainbow caught today.  (Buzzer nymph)

The trout lake has been producing a lot of Perch over the last week.  Anto Kelly had 14 of them one afternoon plus a roach on buzzer nymphs.  He did manage a few trout also.
Gianluca Padella had eight trout and six Perch on Sunday, again on red cheeked buzzers.  A Fritz fished on a sinking line is also producing trout, however top of the water fishing is proving a little difficult and sporadic until the evenings.
Carp are still much in evidence on the Coarse Lake, mainly falling to maggots and some on sweetcorn.
Brocko managed a trio of Tench in one session during the week, fishing block-end feeder and maggots.  The silver fish are still very much in evidence, many first-time anglers managing to catch when fishing close in to the reeds.
